This movie contains love, obsession and traces of religion. There is obviously much more to it, but after watching, Im left with a sort of blank. Not a bad movie but not incredibally good either. You decide.. 6/10

The movie was okay but it left me feeling 'blah' like some others have seemed to describe. The scenery was pretty and the acting was good enough but it just didn't do it for me. I won't be watching this one again.

I found this movie breathtaking. It is long [2hr 13min] but to me it is worth the watch; if you are a genuine 'period-movie' fan, I believe you, too, will enjoy this one. The castle (Brideshead - really Howard) is breathtaking, and as a history buff and lover of old architecture I was so delighted to enjoy every second of the architectural filming from Brideshead to Venice, etc. The acting was great, and the story line of people working hard to do one thing while, at the same time, not working hard enough to do another is thoughful and enlightening. I believe no one can put out a period-film like the British, and in my humble opinion this is another one of their masterpieces. 8/10

I think whoever wrote this definitely had in mind a different sort of viewership than one such as me. Nitch market at best, thus probable why this film lost 13.5 million. SJW PC films like this probable lead to the demise of Miramax/Disney relationship in the long run around 2010.

This had potential but was presented poorly.

This movie wasn't bad, but for some reason the characters are not brought to life, it's more like witnessing things that went on between them, but there is no emotional transference which makes it feel a bit hollow and inconclusive. Still, it had a good cast who give solid performances and it has a genuine period feel to it. 7/10.

Stunning movie, great acting, great storyline, but sometimes too much sadness. I think the end is ok, but leaves some questions. I still wonder what happened to Sebastian, but they left that part enterily blank.

After all that, he leaves the flame burning. Amazing movie with a profound message in reference to religion.

I found this film to be missing something. Lots of sadness and tones of obsession in reference to humanity and its weaknesses. I recommend to "Drama" lovers only lest you find yourself bored to pieces. I am a film buff, so I would watch it any way but if you need lots going on in a film this is not for you. I must note there is religious overtones in the film and I think it propagates much of it. 6.25/10.

This story was probably far more powerful if you read the book. As always, it didn't transcend perfectly to the screen. However, a message is still conveyed. The movie is fairly slow, but I'm not sorry I watched it. I really enjoyed the views of Castle Howard (Brideshead) which is simply gorgeous. For me, this movie is just under a 3/5.

Brideshead is the same "house" used in Atonement.

I love the architecture of the Castle Howard. The gardens are awesome. Some of the buildings are unfinished up to this day.
